COMMON AC PROBLEMS

There is nothing better than a good air conditioner during the hot season. Since they were invented in 1902, they have played an important role in the development of our society and comfort of the people. Some thirty years ago, air conditioners were a luxury and very few people could afford it in their homes. Nowadays almost every home has an air conditioner.

Purchasing an air conditioner makes your life much easier but  with time it starts having some issues that can make it break down completely. It is important to know which problems you might face with your AC before it happens so that you are prepared and know what to do when this happens.

Broken Thermometer
The thermometer in most systems helps the automatic on and off function and that is what makes it one of the most important components of your AC. if it breaks you will notice that your air conditioner turns on and off for no reason.

If you notice that the temperature in the room feels different than the temperature that the thermometer shows, it means that there is a problem. Also, if you set a certain temperature and your AC stops blowing cool air before this temperature is reached, it is a sign that your thermometer might be broken.

If you are facing such a problem, you should contact an HVAC professional to help you repair or replace the thermometer.

The AC Does Not Start At All
An AC that does not start at all might be caused by bad wiring, loose wires or a bad power source. Most of the time the reason that air conditioners do not turn on is because of lack of power. There can be more alarming reasons like the wires burning inside the system because of small electrical fires. This occurs rarely but it might actually be the reason your AC does not start. Call an HVAC  technician to look into it if your AC does not start at all.

Noisy Air Conditioner
All HVAC systems make some noise and that is normal. But there are some sounds that are not normal for an AC, especially if this noise is loud. Some sounds that show that your AC might be having some troubles are rattling, grinding, popping and hissing sounds. If you hear any of these sounds, you need a technician’s intervention.

Bad smells
Bad smells coming from any appliance or system in the house is a bad sign. Air conditioners should never let out bad odors. If this happens it means that there is a leak in your AC that causes a mold build up.

Another reason why your air conditioner is smelling bad might be because of a natural gas leak.

If it smells like rotten eggs it is definitely a gas leak . Then you should evacuate the house immediately and call an emergency team.
